Old Mosque Al-Hilal Katangka - Mosque Agung Syekh Yusuf

Old Al-Hilal mosque was built during the reign of the king of Gowa XIV named I Manga'ragi Daeng - Manrabbiakaraeng Lakiung (Sultan Alauddin I) in 1603, Sultan Alauddin was the first king of Gowa who embraced Islam. Sultan Alauddin was the grandfather of Mohammed Bakir Mallombassi I Daeng ri Mattawang Karaeng Bontomangape Tumenanga Balla Pangkana or known by the name of Sultan Hasanuddin, the 16th king of Gowa.

Old architecture of the mosque of Al-Hilal has inspired Katangka South Sulawesi governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo in 2009 to establish a mosque mosque with the same form in 24 districts / cities in the province.
